Message from Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson

Your Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce will continue working for you during these concerning times as we all together face the novel coronavirus threat. Our work is essential to public health and safety, agriculture, commerce and economic stability in Mississippi. We continue to make sure meat is produced according to healthy standards, that the seeds you plant will grow and mature, that the fuel you buy meets state standards, and that the scales you use are honest and cheat neither buyer or seller. Public health and the health of our employees are a top priority, and we have made adjustments to our offices and staff hours during the emergency declared by Governor Tate Reeves. But we will continue to serve you, and we plan to return to normal operations as soon as advisable by the Governor and the Mississippi Department of Health. In the meantime, I encourage you to take care of yourself, your loved ones and your neighbors. Do not live in a spirit of fear, but be strong and courageous. My prayers, and the prayers of my family, are with all of you.
